Your input is important to me.  This is your place.  I want it to be a happy site and a place that you will want to visit often.  I want your ideas and your stories.  I want you to share the positive things that have come into your life in spite of, or because of, your burns. I think this is so important to our new survivors. It is also important for non-burn survivors to realize how valuable and what an important part of society we are.    Delores will reply privately to message as requested.

Hi everyone,

My name is Delores;
I became a burn survivor at the age of ten.

From the little girl that held the little black belt of her Mom’s dress for the entire year while she was in the hospital (this was my security) to the well adjusted, (depending on whom you ask) happy survivor that I am today, I believe says it all!  Yes, there is life after burns.  I never let my burns dictate who I am.  After all, they might be a part of me, but they defiantly do not define me. I was born first, and then I was burned.

I am the person that I was born to be, maybe a stronger, more compassionate, better me, but me just the same.  Yes, the burns made changes in my life, forever, but it didn’t destroy that person that was still inside.  The important me, the me that will always be.   The burns forced me to focus on cultivating this inner person; they forced me to focus on all of the strengths that I acquired early on as a survivor.

Are looks important?  Yes!  The looks that are in the eyes of your loved ones are important.  These looks are your true measure of success.   What I see in my children’s eyes tells me this.

I am so very successful and then I am a burn survivor.

Thanks for visiting with me.

Love You,

Delores
